About the Event
A Social Impact Summit 2020 is focused on KAI.
In October 2019 it was estimated that half a million kiwis were living without reliable daily access to affordable and nutritious food in Aotearoa. As the impact of COVID19 continues to unfold, this figure is expected to rise as high as 1.25 million people - which is 1 in 5 kiwis.
Globally it is estimated that nearly 690 million people are hungry. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 is Zero Hunger by 2030. A goal the world is not on track to meet. A profound change of the global food and agriculture system is needed if we are to nourish the more than 690 million people who are hungry today.
This year A. Social Impact Summit 2020 is looking at all things 'kai'. We want to bring together people and projects whose minds, mahi, and hearts are focused on food security for all. The three-day summit series will look at what's happening here, around the world, and the impacts of COVID 19 on our food system.
Join us to explore food security, food sovereignty, and the food system in Aotearoa. Let's map, design, disrupt, decolonize, and reimagine our future food system together.
